Robert (Bob) Hamlin
Principal, Portage Ventures
Robert (“Bob”) Hamlin is a Principal, Portage Ventures at Sagard and joined the firm in 2019. As a member of Portage, Bob invests in early-stage and growth-stage fintech opportunities globally. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including origination, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management. Within the investment portfolio, Bob is a board observer of Borrowell, Choosing Therapy, Fondeadora, Hellas Direct and Retirable. Bob is based in Washington DC, US.
Prior to Sagard, Bob was an Associate in the Global Fintech Investment Group at International Finance Corporation (“IFC”), the investment arm of the World Bank. Prior to joining IFC, he worked as an investment banker for Marlin & Associates, a boutique investment bank focused on the fintech sector, and began his career with the Investment Banking division of Goldman Sachs.
Bob holds a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard College (cum laude) and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Resolution Project, a New York-based non-profit that funds and mentors young people pursuing social impact ventures in 80 countries.
