Guillaume Marion is a Partner at Sagard and joined the firm in 2017. Guillaume leads relationships with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial families to generate deal flow for the firm’s private equity and credit businesses, raise capital across its investment strategies, and grow the firm’s ecosystem in Quebec. From 2017 to 2024, Guillaume played a key role in scaling Sagard’s venture builder platform, Diagram. As Partner & COO and chair of its Investment Committee, he contributed to its growth from 1 fund and 2 incubated companies to 5 funds and over 20 incubated companies that generated top quartile returns for our limited partners and over $1.5 billion in shareholder value. Guillaume is based in Montreal, Canada.
Prior to Sagard, Guillaume worked in the United Kingdom within the investment banking division of HSBC. Previously, he served as the CFO of a portfolio company at Rocket Internet, the world’s largest incubator of technology companies, while based in Germany. Before moving to Europe, Guillaume was an investment professional at PSP Investments, where he worked across both private markets and public markets groups. His career began in 2006 at Genuity Capital Markets, focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
Guillaume holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School, a Bachelor of Business Administration from HEC Montreal, and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. He also actively contributes to his community through his involvement with several non-profit organizations including as board member of the Opera de Montreal and the Montreal Economic Institute and as committee member with associations such as the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA) and Réseau Capital.
