Jay Alexander is Chief Investment Officer and Senior Advisor of Sagard Real Estate, leading investment strategy and investment decision-making. Jay is a member of Sagard Real Estate’s Investment, New Product Development & Strategy, and Executive Committees. He has 33 years in real estate investment management, overseeing more than $19B in real estate encompassing over 500 investments and 24 different investment programs. His experience includes overlapping roles as a Chief Investment Officer for 18 years, Portfolio Manager/Senior Portfolio Manager for 30 years, and Head of Portfolio Management for 17 years.
Prior to his role at Sagard Real Estate, Jay was Senior Portfolio Manager for two open-ended commingled core funds at the Principal Financial Group and BlackRock. He was also the former Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for Real Estate Equity at BlackRock. He is an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association and a Real Estate Advisory Board Member of Texas Christian University. Jay received his M.B.A. in Finance in Real Estate and his B.A. in Economics from DePauw University.
