Lee Wanie is Managing Director, Head of North America, Capital Formation at Sagard and joined the firm in 2025. He oversees fundraising activities across North America and is based in New York, United States.
Prior to Sagard, Lee was Head of Sales and Distribution at Mubadala Capital, a UAE sovereign-backed alternative asset manager, where he built and led the team responsible for commercializing the firm’s investment capabilities across private equity, venture capital, special situations, solutions, and co-investments, serving institutional, retail, high net worth, and sovereign investors.
Prior to Mubadala Capital, Lee led institutional fundraising and consultant relations at BMO Global Asset Management. Prior to BMO, Lee spent 18 years in capital formation leadership roles at BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors.
Lee holds an A.B. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a CFA charterholder.
