Mustafa Humayun is a Partner at Sagard and Portfolio Manager of Sagard Credit Partners, the firm’s opportunistic direct lending strategy. He co-founded Sagard’s credit platform in 2016 and has been instrumental in building it into a multi-strategy business spanning opportunistic credit, direct lending and CLOs.
Mustafa leads the credit investment team across North America and is responsible for investment strategy, origination, underwriting and portfolio management. He is a member of Sagard’s Opportunistic Credit, Senior Lending and Private Equity Investment Committees and is based in Toronto.
Prior to joining Sagard, Mustafa was a Managing Director at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), where he led multiple investment teams across North America and headed the firm’s Latin American credit business. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in New York, investing across the capital structure, including private equity transactions.
Mustafa has served on the boards of several organizations, including Laricina Energy, the Queen’s University Investment Council and LongPoint Minerals. He currently serves on the board of TO Live Foundation and the Lassonde Art Trail, and was previously involved with New York Needs You and Youth Empowering Parents.
Mustafa holds a B.Comm. from Queen’s University.
