Sean McKinnon is the Head of Business Development at Sagard and leads the originations team. Sean is a member of the Canadian team and is based in Toronto.
Prior to joining Sagard, Sean founded Mount Bruno Capital, an independent sponsor in Toronto that partners with family-owned businesses in the Canadian lower-middle market. Before that, he was the Head of Business Development at Novacap, overseeing originations for all four of their fund strategies. Sean’s earlier roles include Vice President and Co-Head of the M&A Practice at BFL Canada, and corporate lawyer in the Business Law Group at Dentons, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and securities law.
Sean holds a BA (Hons) from Queen’s University, and both an LL.L and J.D. from the University of Ottawa Law School. He was called to the bar in Ontario and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. An active member of the Canadian Private Equity and M&A community, Sean currently serves as Board Chair for the Association for Corporate Growth (Toronto), and also sits on the boards of The Michael Garron Hospital Foundation and Selwyn House School.
