Sinath Kim

Sinath Kim is a Principal, Partnerships and Policy at Sagard and joined the firm in 2018. With a particular focus on Portage Ventures, the venture capital arm of Sagard, Sinath is responsible for helping Sagard’s investors maximize the strategic value of their investment by identifying and facilitating commercial partnerships between limited partners and portfolio companies and delivering actionable insights on market trends and developments in collaboration with the investment and value creation teams. She is a member of the value creation team and is based in Toronto, Canada.

Prior to Sagard, Sinath was a Director, Enterprise Innovation at CIBC where she was responsible for identifying and facilitating fintech partnerships, delivering insights on fintech trends, and leading the implementation of the partnerships framework. Sinath also has in-depth knowledge and experience in risk and compliance through her time at BMO Financial Group.

Sinath holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario.

Joseph Lau

Joseph Lau has served as Chief Information Security Officer at Sagard since 2019. As a member of the value creation team, Joseph is responsible for cybersecurity and information security across the Sagard platform. Joseph assists our portfolio partners with cybersecurity maturity assessments, developing action plans, advising on strategic roadmaps, running cyber breach simulations and responding to cyber incidents. He has integrated on an interim basis into senior leadership positions at Dialogue, KOHO and Alpaca to quickly level-up their cybersecurity programs. Joseph also provides thought leadership on cybersecurity and performs technical due diligence on potential investments. He is based in Ottawa.

Prior to Sagard, Joseph was the Head of Critical Infrastructure Partnerships at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security where he oversaw the declassification and transfer of cyber defence technology from government to large financial services enterprises in Canada. Before the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, Joseph spent time in Doha, Qatar with Global Risk Advisors where he was the Director of Cyber Security. His prior experience includes a long history of public service as part of Canada’s Communications Security Establishment where he spent fifteen years in progressive roles at the intersection of technology and security.

Joseph holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) from the University of Manitoba.

Jonathan Metrick

Jonathan Metrick has served as Chief Growth Officer at Sagard since 2020. As a member of the value creation team, Jonathan assists our portfolio partners in various ways to drive growth including paid acquisition, SEO, attribution and recruitment. He has also taken on interim leadership positions such as Fractional Chief Growth Officer at Wealthsimple. Jonathan plays a key role within Sagard to support branding, corporate communications, thought leadership and investment due diligence. He is based in New York, US.

Prior to Sagard, Jonathan was the Chief Marketing Officer of Policygenius where he built a growth division of 45 and increased revenue 10x without raising customer acquisition costs (CAC). Previous to this, Jonathan led marketing at Hult International Business School in London and held marketing leadership positions working with Tiffany & Co, Live Nation Entertainment, Diesel and Procter & Gamble.

Jonathan holds an MBA (Distinction) from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) from Queen’s University.

Saïk Paugam is a Partner at Sagard and joined the firm in 2004. As a member of the Sagard MidCap investment team, Saïk invests in middle market opportunities focused on transformational growth companies located in Europe and plays an active role in originating and executing deals, as well as in tracking investment performance and managing divestments. Saïk originally joined Sagard as an Associate in 2004, was promoted to Director in 2009, and made Partner in 2013. He is based in Paris.

Prior to Sagard, Saïk was an Associate in M&A at Morgan Stanley where he participated in a number of divestments by large French companies as part of transactions involving private equity funds and manufacturing corporations.
